Movie Review ! Captain America: Civil War
When I first watched the trailer previewing
Captain America: Civil War, the awesome sneak fight scenes got me yearning for
more and sure enough watching the movie at the cinema after its release, I was
not disappointed. The action-packed movie also featured superheroes such as
Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, Iron Man, Hawkeye, Falcon, War Machine, Ant-Man, Spider-man
and the Winter Soldier among others.
Anyway, remember how the Winter Soldier ended?
Well, Civil War takes off right after the prequel's events. (Spoiler Alert) The
brainwashed soldier is sent to Hydra's Siberia base where he is after a
super-soldier serum. Fast forward to present day a year after the Avengers team
stop a heist by Rumlow, who wanted to take off with a biological weapon, he
then blows himself up rather than be taken captive. While the UN conference
that seeks to pass the Sokovia Accords that will establish an oversight panel
for the Avengers is ongoing, a bomb goes off killing T'Chaka, King of Wakanda.
Unfortunately, the bomber is identified as Bucky Barnes (the Winter Soldier)
who then has T'Challa, Chaka's son after him. Then follows a series of events
in which Captain America tries to save Bucky and culminating in an epic action
scenes.
Combined
effort of Super Heroes sparked the massive theater
What makes Civil War particularly spectacular
is the coming together of favorite superheroes in a way that complements them
working as a team. While each of the heroes carries their part of the film
well, credit goes to Captain America for his superb part in depicting the
conflicting emotions that he wallows in while trying to save Bucky. There is
the Spider-man whose obsession with Tony Stark makes him go to desperate
lengths to try and impress him. Together with Ant-Man, they added a lot of
humor to the blockbuster with their polar antics; Spider man's desperate moves
and Ant-man's pranks on Iron-Man. Wanda Maximoff's character was also developed
from her previous appearance in Age of Ultron. The balance of screen time
accorded to each super hero, the Amazing fight scenes, the humorous scenes and
the romantic quality given to the movie by the chemistry between Vision and
Scarlet Witch makes for an amazing watch. I had goosebumps for more than half
the movie.
The block buster's plot is more original and
keeps building throughout the movie. The cast ensemble is as usual accurately
depicted by the actors, with Scarlett Johansson taking the cake once more for a
superb portrayal of Black Widow. Then the star, Captain America, the serious
brooding yet humble hero who strikes the balance between super-strength,
loyalty to Bucky and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. In Civil
War, the conflict is not just between Iron-Man and the rest of the gang
(Captain America included) regarding Wakanda, but also to do with the Sokovia
Accords. Add the simmering undercurrents to great action scenes such as the
scene where Bucky was chased by Black Panther (T'Challa) and Captain America:
Civil War becomes one suspenseful movie.
